What data is shared between this plugin & engine9

Any type of data that represents an outbound communication, such as an email, text message, or digital ad.
Any type of data that represents a person, including about their origin, interaction, membership in segments, and donation history.
Any type of data that represents a donation or monetary gift. Common fields imported from ActBlue include: amount, timestamp, source code, referring page, recurring status, donor ID, refunds, and tandem amounts.
How to integrate this plugin:

  1. Create an Engine9 user in Google Ads with Manager-level permissions
  2. Authorize the Google Ads plugin in Engine9
  3. Data will import from Google Ads at regular intervals (generally 3x/day)

What we love and don't love so much

Why we value this plugin and things that are not so great.

Cons

We don't love much about Google Ads. It's a big, complex system with a lot of moving parts, and it mostly works as advertised. Some thing we don't love:

Wonky Permissions - particularly for agencies or organizations managing multiple Google Ads accounts, providing the right permissions for data exports can be frustrating.

Data Structure - some features, like PerformanceMax campaigns, do not align to our standardized ads data schema, but fortunately we've developed some workarounds.

Can be used and abused - with a lot of non-standard tactics if you really know what you're doing with the tool, resulting in messy data and reporting.

UTM parameters and tags are a trap - within the walled garden of Google, these tools are very powerful but they severely limit your ability to use your data outside that ecosystem.
