Plugin Features
About

Convio’s Luminate platform is one of the oldest advocacy-based CRMs on the market. It has a robust set of features, buried behind an often-frustrating user-interface.

It has all the features you would expect from a political engagement tool, including support for fundraising, legislative advocacy, events, messaging, and data management.

Use this plugin to:

Users can import comprehensive people, transaction, and message data from Luminate into Engine9.

Users can build targeting lists in Engine9 for use in Luminate.

Users can use Engine9 lifetime value and message attribution models to analyze long-term ROI calculations and source-code-based revenue attribution.

Shared Data

What data is shared between this plugin & engine9

Any type of data that represents an outbound communication, such as an email, text message, or digital ad.
Any type of data that represents a person, including about their origin, interaction, membership in segments, and donation history.
Any type of data that represents a donation or monetary gift. Common fields imported from ActBlue include: amount, timestamp, source code, referring page, recurring status, donor ID, refunds, and tandem amounts.
How to integrate this plugin:

  1. Set up a user in the Luminate UI with appropriate administrator permissions, including R/W/E access to People, Transactions, and Email, and access to Report Writer.
  2. Do NOT add API access (this can actually complicate data access)
  3. Data from Luminate will refresh at regular intervals.

What we love and don't love so much

Why we value this plugin and things that are not so great.

Pros

Data management: Luminate was built for large organizations, and it handles large amounts of data efficiently

Cons

No functional API: it might be surprising that a major CRM doesn’t have a useful API in the year 2025, but here we are. Our data integration with Luminate bypasses the API to pull data directly from the UI.

Bad user-interface: as one might expect, the oldest CRM platform in the sector has some interface issues.

Aging codebase: if you’re holding your breath for Luminate to get a timely update bringing Feature X in line with modern standards, I wouldn’t.
